Using the Future Now

A friend of mine was teaching me a lesson as part of her school course.  She started with the question, “What are five things you want to do before you die?”

Given that I was limiting myself to five, I limited myself to the really big rocks.  Wow, did I have an “aha” moment.  I wanted to love and further develop relationships with my children, build an eternal marriage, progress in knowledge and learning, etc.

Nowhere in my list does it require me to lose my last thirty pounds!  Now do I want to be healthy so I have a good quality of life to spend more time with my kids and husband?  You bet! But there are way more important things for me to be doing to further those end goals than lose thirty pounds.

Working backwards led me to contemplate what those things are that I need to be doing.  I can use those goals to spend my time, here and now, making it better, now and in the future.
